What is PRRA?

Your Last Protection Before Removal from Canada

A Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) allows individuals facing removal to present new evidence of risk or persecution if returned to their home country.

After a refugee claim refusal, PRRA gives you a critical opportunity to show that conditions have changed or new risks have emerged. Without proper preparation, most PRRA applications are denied.

Abhishek Rattan, RCIC-IRB, builds powerful PRRA submissions using updated country condition reports, personal risk evidence, and targeted legal arguments for your specific case.

FAQ

Frequently Asked PRRA Questions

Clear answers about PRRA, refugee refusals, and deportation defence in Canada.

What is a PRRA application and who can apply?
A Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) is available to individuals who have received a removal order from Canada. It allows submission of new evidence showing risk — persecution, torture, or serious harm — if returned. Most people whose refugee claim has been refused become eligible for PRRA before removal.
Can a PRRA application stop my deportation?
In most cases, applying for PRRA triggers an automatic stay of removal — CBSA cannot deport you while processing. However, eligibility and timing requirements are strict. Apply immediately after receiving your PRRA notification. Contact us as soon as possible.
My refugee claim was refused — what options do I have?
After a refugee refusal you may have options: a Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) appeal, a PRRA application, an H&C application, or Judicial Review at Federal Court. Our consultant assesses your specific situation and recommends the strongest available path.
What evidence is needed for a strong PRRA application?
A strong PRRA requires new evidence not considered in your original hearing — updated country condition reports, documentation of new threats, news articles, human rights reports, affidavits, and supporting documents specific to your situation. Our team builds comprehensive PRRA submissions.
My previous consultant made errors — can my case be saved?
In many cases, yes. Depending on where you are in the process, PRRA, H&C, or Judicial Review may address a poorly prepared case. We regularly help clients whose cases were mishandled by inexperienced consultants — we review everything and build the strongest strategy going forward.
